Jon & Kate Madness, Plus TV's Biggest Winners, Losers
Bald Head Island was aflutter Thursday with the news that the some of the Gosselin family, made famous by the television show “Jon and Kate plus Eight,” were staying on the island.
The serene beach community, accessible by a 20-minute ferry ride from Southport, is a secluded escape for many visitors who favor a quiet getaway. The island features upscale cottages, a golf course and lighthouse, and allows only golf carts and bicycles for transportation.
Despite the live-and-let-live attitude of the area, many residents were interested and excited to have the television personalities in their midst.
Jon and Kate Gosselin, along with 8-year-old twin girls and 5-year-old sextuplets, gained popularity from the TLC show, which films everyday life for the family that is anything but typical. The fifth season of the show premiered Monday.
